Erstwilder is back at it again, delivering the goods with their latest collection: A Fuller Bloom. Us Erstwildians love all collections BUT the flower collections are my absolute favourite. When I got the email from Erstwilder HQ about A Fuller Bloom, I flipped! In full bloom the previous flower release was definitely my favourite release.. until now. A fuller bloom is a beautiful collection designed by Carmen Hui who also designed the previous collection In Full Bloom. All products from Erstwilder in this post have been gifted.
This time we have some of our favourites back in new colour ways or styles and a lot of new comers! It was so hard to pick my favourites but I had to make a decision and my favourites are: Heartfelt Hydrangea Brooch, Heartfelt Hydrangea Stud (Pink), Follow the Sun Brooch, Follow the Sun Necklace. What can I say? I love hydrangeas and sunflowers!! What are your favourites from the latest collection? And what pieces did you pick up?
Heartfelt Hydrangea Brooch & Heartfelt Hydrangea Stud (Pink) This year I have been obsessed with hydrangeas and I’m looking forward to having a place of my own and having my own hydrangeas. So when I saw the Heartfelt Hydrangea I knew I had to have every option it came in, so brooch and earrings it is! Earlier in the year the blue hydrangea sold out FAST so I’ll be interested in seeing if this one does too! EDIT: IT DID!
From Gardenista: “Hydrangeas change color (except for the white ones) based on the pH level of their soil. The more alkaline the soil, the pinker the flowers. To make pink hydrangeas turn blue (or to keep your blue ones from turning pink), increase the acidity of soil. “
Follow the Sun Brooch & Follow the Sun Necklace I love the details in this piece, there are so many layers to this design. Some of the petals have a glitter resin, others are plain and some have line detailing – even the leaves are different colours! Sunflowers instantly brighten my mood, they are so cheery and always remind me of the sun and summer.
Again a huge thank you to the team at Erstwilder for sending me these amazing brooches and for allowing me to be part of this release, I am always thrilled to be involved with an amazing company like Erstwilder. I know I’ll be wearing these brooches all through spring and summer. ❤
Disclaimer: Although these pieces from Erstwilder were sent to me all my thoughts & opinions are honest and my own. I do not accept products without researching brands beforehand and that aren’t suitable for me or my readers.

Earlier this month my Mum and I decided to head up to Auckland for a few days to refresh and unwind! For those of you who don’t know Auckland is located near the top of the North Island – one hour away from Wellington via plane; a pretty quick flight! Whilst we were up there I decided to blog and try to take as many photos as possible and I’ve come home only to realize that all of the photos are pretty much food related – typical. I hope you enjoy this little follow me around – let me know in the comments below!
First off I want to apologize for the lack of posts on here. I’ve been struggling to find balance with work and life stuff; being an adult is surprisingly difficult sometimes! But here I am trying to get my blog back on track with a small and silly outfit of the day post.
I finished work around 4.30 so the boyfriend and I decided to head to the Botanical Gardens to take some photos, it was super windy and cold but the flowers were phenomenal. I reviewed this lazybones dress awhile ago and it has got to be one of my favourite dresses; it’s super comfortable and the print just screams vintage. And now that it’s officially Spring my signature bumper bang and floppy hat is back and I’m so ready to rock it (if the Wellington wind permits it)! Pro tip: if you ever struggle with vintage hair sets just whack a floppy hat on and it solves everything! Continue reading “Outfit of the day + A little catch up!”→
I originally wanted to bake cinnamon rolls yesterday but unfortunately I had only one tbsp of cinnamon left in the cupboard and it was a pajamas and gross hair kind of day. I wasn’t leaving the house so I had a rummage around in the cupboard and managed to find some sultanas, mixed peel (leftover from my Lemon Fudge Slice) and a bit of powdered ginger. I haven’t baked chelsea buns since my culinary arts course (we had a test on them)! And I remember absolutely loving them when I baked them – they’re just as good as the bakery, maybe even better. I omitted the sugar syrup glaze which creates a shine and a sticky texture because I felt it didn’t need it – if you want to here is a simple recipe that you just pour over the buns when they’re fresh out of the oven.
If a slice recipe contains sweetened condensed milk in the ingredient list then I’m 100% interested in baking it. Recently my boyfriend bought me The Great New Zealand Baking Book filled with tons of Kiwi classics from complete and utter indulgence to healthy twists to usually quite rich recipes all from Kiwi chefs such as Nadia Lim, Niki Bezzant, Dame Alison Holst, Jo Seagar, Julie Le Clerc, Ruth Pretty and Simon Holst just to name a few! I came across the lemon fudge slice within minutes looking through the book and just had to bake it! Lemon fudge has a nostalgic feel to it, something I had a lot growing up and there’s something about two packs of digestive biscuits mixed with condensed milk and lemon that’s incredibly enticing for me (& hopefully you too)! This recipe is super easy, requires no oven time and tastes amazing! Continue reading “Lemon Fudge Slice”→
I decided on Saturday that I would download the Pokemon GO app just see what all the hype was about and next thing I know I’ve walked 14 km in two days. I grew up with Pokemon; watching the show, playing the card game and playing it on Game boy colour so I knew I would be a fan. I thought it would be similar to the games but this is almost an entirely new concept and so interactive.. maybe a little addictive too. Anyway I don’t want to bore you! Here is what I wore on Sunday.
I have been so weary of lemon curd for such a long time, maybe it’s because of the time where I completely split the curd to the point where it resembled lumpy orange porridge. Or could it be the time when I took it off the heat at least five minutes early resulting in a soup like texture; who knows? It could be either one of them. Well I have now seen the light after finding the perfect recipe; it’s simple, no thermometer necessary nor will you need any muslin. Four ingredients, ten minutes tops and foolproof (if you listen to me that is)!
On the 7th of February the Moonshine Rod and Custom club held the annual American Vehicle day, a fantastic event with food stalls, clothing, AMAZING cars and the Miss Moonshine/Rod and Custom pageant hosted by Glory Days Magazine. I attended and took a whole lot of photos which I have decided I will put out in a large blog post this Friday – so watch out for that! Anyway, Glory Days Magazine had the brilliant idea of hosting an after party at the Motel Bar (a tiki themed bar #glorious) and here’s what I wore to that.
I don’t own a lot of evening/formal wear, I usually dress up my day wear with jewellery and fancy hair which usually does the trick! But I recently purchased the PUG Ava swing dress in black (reviewed here) and I haven’t had many occasions to wear it so the Glory Days Miss Moonshine after party was definitely the perfect excuse! Below are some photos of me looking a bit glum after a long day in Upper Hutt (sometimes that much sun can wipe you out!) Also thanks to my gorgeous boyfriend for being my photographer for the night.
I have always heard of these things called Whoopie pies and after a day of making a similar thing “brownie sandwiches’ in a cakery I decided it was time. I halved Martha Stewart’s basic whoopie pie recipe and a made up buttercream and incorporated some of my leftover crunchie bars (mmm yum) creating something great (modest); Whoopie pies with vanilla buttercream w/ crunchie chunks. The only way I can describe whoopie pies is that they’re like freestanding cupcakes -they’re light, fluffy and have a cake like texture. This was my first time baking them and due to my oven being Satan some of the bottoms (but not all thankfully) burnt – so please be careful! I wouldn’t attempt if your oven doesn’t distribute heat evenly (sooo annoying!!) All though they don’t look particularly fancy they taste almost luxurious and they have the perks/taste of cupcakes without messing around with fancy piping!
