A Haunting We Will Go…. Erstwilder – Halloween 2018

The countdown is on and there’s only 51 days until Halloween. Are you ready? Because I am, thanks to Erstwilder‘s latest launch; A Haunting We Will Go.. I’ve already got outfits planned for the week of Halloween and my costume because I like Halloween almost as much as I like Christmas!! Us Australasian folk grew up watching all of you Americans with your fall leaves, apple bobbing, trick-or-treating and last but not certainly least carving pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns business and quite frankly I was jealous and to this day I still am. Erstwilder has brought my childhood fantasy of the whimsy & nostalgia of Halloween into accessory form and I’m living for it – pumpkins (YES THE ORANGE ONES NOT THE ANEMIC GREEN ONES WE GET IN NZ), skeletons, potions, beasts and freaking candy corn!! It’s everything you could want in the weeks leading up to one of spookiest nights of the year…

OUT OF AFRICA! – ERSTWILDER

Out of Africa! The new release from one of my favourite brands; Erstwilder. If you haven’t heard of Erstwilder – where. have. you. been? Have you been hiding under a rock? Please do tell. To keep it short and sweet – Erstwilder was established in Melbourne, Australia a mere 7 years ago in 2011 and has since grown into an international accessory company selling quirky, cute and nostalgic brooches, earrings & necklaces. I have been a huge fan of Erstwilder for many years now, they really have something to offer to everyone – not just the pin-up scene. TL;DR Erstwilder is a really cool brand and they make super cool accessories, okay?

Miss Flossypots - Erstwilder - Out of Africa!

When Erstwilder got in touch with me (squee!!) for this latest collection I was pretty much bouncing off the walls (metaphorically speaking of course) and I knew all of you would be excited about this range too because: animals.
WARNING: I WILL USE THE WORD ‘CUTE’ 3 MILLION TIMES IN THIS BLOGPOST.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED….
Which brings me to their latest launch, Out of Africa. It’s pretty straight forward, this range is dedicated to the amazing animals that inhabit Africa from cheetahs to meerkats; there’s such a diverse range of animals and the designs for this range probably have to be one of my favourites. Browsing through the catalog was so much fun and I know you’re all going to love them. Please let me know your favourites!

First up: Cheetara’s Chum designed by Sally Land

Miss Flossypots - Erstwilder - Cheetara's Chum 1

As soon as I saw Cheetara’s Chum I knew it was going to be a winner (I’d get this one quick!) The colouring of the brooch is so striking it even sticks out of my leopard print dress! Cheetara’s chum is such a different take on the cheetah, it’s so bold and it’s just the right shades of yellow & mustard. And I adore cats so anything to do with feline family must be mine.

Kubu The Cutie designed by Sally Land

Miss Flossypots - Erstwilder - Kubu The Cutie 3

This has to be my favourite brooch in the whole collection! Every aspect of this design is perfect from the freckly nose, the eyelashes to the colour itself. The colour of this brooch is so unique and sticks out like a sore thumb (in a good way). I cannot wait to wear this one out and about – it could even replace my iconic fairybread piece!!! Every time I look at this piece I smile – it’s so darn cute!

Finnicky Fennec Fox designed by Sally Land

Miss Flossypots - Erstwilder - Finnicky Fennec Fox 1

Okay y’all, I need you to open up a new tab and search ‘Fennec Fox’ – you’ll thank me later. The Fennec fox is one of the most adorable animals out there, they’re so small and their ears are so big and they’re just so precious! Finnicky Fennec Fox captures the innocence of the fennec fox and is made up of the most amazing pastels and get this – iridescent resin/acrylic ears and face. I don’t know how to explain but it’s shiny and sparkly and it gives the brooch a-whole-nother dimension. This is definitely one to see in person.

And those are my picks! I highly recommend you checking out the whole range on the Erstwilder website and please, please, please let me know your favourites!! I am a huge lover of animals so this was such a great collection to work with.
Thank you so much to Erstwilder for allowing me to review these brooches – it was an honor! I can’t wait to see what you come out with next. πŸ™‚

New Zealand Natives – Flora & Fauna – Daisy Jean Floral Designs

It’s finally New Zealand’s time to shine! This week I bring to you Daisy Jean Floral Design’s latest collection: New Zealand Natives. Daisy Jean recently reached out to me about this range and asked if I would share some with my audience and of course I jumped at the opportunity. A range dedicated to New Zealand – what’s not to love? I may be a little biased as I was born in New Zealand… So often as a small country we’re forgotten about and I think it’s super special to have a range dedicated to our native birds and flowers because they are just gorgeous.

Flat Lay Favourites #1

Danielle from Devel brought ‘Flat Lays’ to my attention a couple months back via Instagram in a series of colour challenges labelled #flatlayfridaychallenge. Ever since then I have been a little obsessed but kind of scared to put together my own UNTIL yesterday. Yesterday I thought why not? I’ve been so sick of the endless selfies on my profile; I want to start mixing things up a little bit by adding a few flat lays and more food photos.

What is a ‘flat lay’? For me it would be arranging/showcasing items in an orderly or randomized fashion that appeals to you on a flat surface. Whether it’s super organized or items randomly placed, it’s really up to you. Then snap a photo from a bird’s eye view perspective (#technicalterm) and there you have it! Easy.

This week I’m running through a couple of my favourites and of course the underlying theme is pink. Here a run through of each item – if you follow me on Instagram you would have seen these items pop up on my stories and/or my profile.

1. Unicorn/Magical Makeup Bag from K-mart: What can I say? I’m sucker for anything that’s pink and glittery.. I saw this on one of my infamous k-mart shops with Mum and fell in love with it. I haven’t used it much yet because it’s so pretty and I don’t want to ruin it BUT it will be my make-up bag soon enough.

2. Hell Bunny Pink Belt from Kabella Baby: I saw an Instagram post from one of my great friends, Rachel, wearing this amazing belt a couple of months ago. I had to have one immediately so I bought it the next day.. I do not regret this purchase at all, I am a huge fan of this style of Hell Bunny belt and now own it in three different colours and wear them on a daily basis! Plus it’s pink..

3.Β Fun Lovin’ Frenchie Brooch by Erstwilder: I have LOVED Grease for the longest time and when Erstwilder announced that they were coming out with a Grease collection I knew I had to get my hands on one! And I did! I’ve been loving my Frenchie and have put together a series of photos that should be on my Instagram.

4. Ice cream & Doughnut brooch from Bel Air Baby: I just love Bel Air Baby. I’ve been wearing these bad boys at least three times a week. There is something so cute about them, they just go with every outfit and they really make me happy.

5. Chocolate Doughnuts: If you know anything about me you’ll know that I freaking LOVE doughnuts. On Monday I went into my local bakery to pick up some snacks for my girl Xamia Arc and saw these HUGE doughnuts for $2.60 so I bought two. They are so freaking good; they don’t taste super fried (more bready than anything) and the chocolate is so sweet not a conventional doughnut but still super good. Β I mean.. look at it.

6.Β S’well Bottle 500ml: I’ve seen these everywhere lately! And as it was recently Plastic Free July I thought I’d pick one of these bad boys up to reduce plastic waste. I’m so glad I bought it too! I’ve been using it 24/7; it keeps cold water cold for 24 hours and hot water hot for 12. I love that! I’m so excited to use it in the Summer time. I highly recommend purchasing one of these.

I hope you enjoyed my little write up and please let me know some of your favourites down below! ❀

OOTD – 22/2/2016- MY ERSTWILDER TWIN

There’s nothing cooler than looking just like a brooch – oh wait there is.. when it’s in Β Erstwilder‘s signature style! The amazing ladies at Two Lippy Ladies situated in Napier saw this brooch individually thought of me and sent it my way – possibly the coolest/sweetest thing to have ever happen to me. I had no idea what was in this little parcel but when I open it I was over the moon, I have never ever had an Erstwilder brooch and have only seen them in passing in Auckland. This isn’t a review but I just have to say the quality is out of this worlddd and the packaging is freaking awesome (something I’m not to familiar with!) I came up with this OOTD as soon as I saw the brooch, I got my Swonderful gingham dress out, modcloth sunglasses and paired both with a hat I customized with flowers and ribbon.
