Well I’m back with another Cry Cry Cry feature because I am the ultimate fan girl. This week I want to speak about the latest piece from Cry Cry Cry clothing – The Mahina Skirt.
Fran contacted me last month asking which fabric/print colour I would like and of course I went for the Palm and Orchid print (because PINK) which has now been gifted to me. But then I saw the Hibiscus on purple and I knew I had to buy one myself…

A month ago I came across this amazing Instagram; ginabnutrition and it seriously changed my vegan baking LIFE. Ginabnutrition has the most innovative recipes I have come across in a long time – it has totally inspired my baking life and I have never felt more motivated to create amazing treats without dairy and egg! I highly recommend checking out her Instagram and her blog for more delicious-ness and inspiration. I made the No Bake Brownie Bites (which a gluten free AND vegan) from her website and they were ah-mazing! We literally couldn’t stop eating them #foodforlife. And as I was eating them I thought ‘What if I left out the cocoa and dipped them in chocolate?’ more like cookie dough than a brownie and with a chocolate snap! I advise you to put them in the freezer for a really cold dessert & for a better snap but you can keep them in the fridge! These are completely vegan, very easy to make and utterly delicious.

Brrrr.. it’s getting cold!!! This week in New Zealand the temperature has dropped and we have had thunder, lightening and tons of rain. Walking home in the dark (because it’s pretty much dark at 5-6pm now!) and all I crave is something warm and filling. So I created this delicious, spicy and super filling curry/stew – I liked it so much I knew I had to share with all of you! In autumn/winter we start losing all of our summer vegetables or they start tasting like rubbish so I picked foods that we all have in our cupboards and that aren’t super seasonal. A can of chickpeas, diced tomatoes – stock cubes, spices.. these are things we have around the house most of the time. I personally LOVE root vegetables – they’re so hearty, versatile and affordable and I pretty much always have them in my kitchen – notice a theme here?? Again, this recipe is completely vegan and going forward on my blog I’m aiming to keep recipes vegan or dairy free as that’s working for me and my body at the moment. 🙂

Well I’m back with another Lady V London review but this time it’s different! This time I’m calling it a first impressions review, I’ve seen this idea in Youtube videos and I’m sure there have been many blog posts but I’ve never done this before! This week I’ll share my first impressions on the Lady V London Lyra Dress in the Summer Cherish print; what I like about it, why I purchased it, how it feels and the fit – like a review but without the commitment, ha!
As you saw from my previous Lady V London review I had wanted a Lyra dress for a long time but as far as I knew they were only in sizes 16 + but thankfully Lady V London recently released the Lyra dress in a size 14! But what had really sold it to me was my best friend Xamia Arc buying her first Lyra (in Leopard – read her post here); once she told me she had bought hers I bought mine the next day! She’s such an enabler but she’s always right about these things! Continue reading “The Lyra Dress – Lady V London – First Impressions”
Happy Easter y’all!! I’m back this week with another biscuit recipe and it’s VEGAN!! This is my first Easter without dairy and it doesn’t feel quite the same so I thought I’d come up with a pretty cute but dairy free alternative for such a dairy fueled occasion. I love sugar cookies but it appears that pretty much all sugar cookies have egg in them (either the biscuit itself or the icing)! I found a few recipes that I liked and altered them until I came up with one I liked – this is a very simple sugar cookie /shortbread hybrid which can totally be jazzed up! Possibly add some cardamon or cinnamon?
I like this recipe because you don’t need much to pull it off – I didn’t need to go to the store for any of these ingredients; I already had them! I truly believe that’s half of the battle sometimes.

Is there anything better than freshly baked cookies? I don’t think so! I came up with this vegan cookie recipe a couple weeks ago when I had a massive sugar craving and I’m so glad I did! These are now my favourite cookies to bake; the saltiness of the pistachios, the sweetness of the dark chocolate chips and the chewy but firm texture of these cookies are to die for! Trust me, once you bake them you’ll fall in love.

Well, y’all know I love some Lady V London! And this week I get the great privilege of showing you one of Lady V London’s Spring/Summer new releases. We are heading into our colder weather (Autumn for us New Zealanders) but I find pretty much all of Lady V’s dresses can be worn through all seasons – trust me, I do it! I personally only work with brands I 100% truly believe in and Lady V London is definitely one. I have loved Lady V London for years (possibly one of my longest loves in the vintage reproduction world). I own five dresses that I wear regularly; in fact, I consider them a staple in my wardrobe and I genuinely love their passion for great products, service & quality.

Flossy here! Ready to solve some very spooky mysteries with all the gang; Shaggy, Daphne, Fred, Velma and of course Scooby-Do! But seriously, this weeks outfit is inspired by a few things (unintentionally) Velma from Scooby Doo, Josie and the Pussycats, Totally Spies and Charlie’s Angels. Growing up I was obsessed with these – I loved mysteries (and still do) but I also loved girl power cartoons – mini skirts, heels, fake glasses. Fashionable but intelligent and they could still kick butt! This isn’t my usual day to day style but when I saw this cute little dress in a buy/sell/swap page I knew I just had to buy it!

Do you ever get that feeling when you try on a dress and it’s like “the one”? Well, I have.
Recently Dolly and Dotty sent me the Lily Dress in white/purple/pink and I knew from the photos it was going to be good but I wasn’t sure if it was going to look good on me… until I tried on and I felt like Elizabeth Taylor. This is not a feeling I get often, I often feel quite bulky and very un-Elizabeth Taylor but there’s something about this dress.
It’s light, I think that’s what it is. It’s not harsh on the eyes; the floral print in it’s pinks, purples and greens lift the dress which almost gives it a 1940’s look but there’s still a modern twist on it.

Every once in a while I like to mix it up – you can’t wear pink EVERYDAY (well you can and I aspire to). BUT this week’s OOTD I wanted to do bit of a style swap and add a touch of darkness to my usual candyfloss demeanor and aesthetic. Stepping outside of your comfort zone is a necessary evil sometimes and with it being a new year #2018 I wanted to spice things up a bit – I don’t want y’all to get sick of me 😉 –
Although in saying that – I have absolutely no idea why I picked a long sleeve dress when we currently have 80-90% humidity on a regular basis; am I crazy? Yes, yes I am – anything in the name of fashion!
What season is it where you’re living? In New Zealand we’re pretty much at the end of our Summer and boy has it been a HOT one!! I’ve never felt humidity like it – I think myself and a lot of people are very excited for some cooler temps in Autumn.

The Carmen Wrap Turban – Black & White – Who’s that Girl?
As many of you know (if you’re plugged into the ‘pin-up girl’ world) you would have seen turbans/knotted hair scarves are very “in” at the moment. It’s like the trend exploded from nowhere and next thing I know everyone is wearing them! I originally fell in love with the Sarahsdoowopdos creations but whenever she would restock I’d miss out; I tried for 3 months (sometimes timezone differences can be the worst)! Then I started to notice Miss Ruby Rabbit was wearing a collection of different hairscarves/turbans and had them down as Who’s that Girl. And of course I thought; Who’s that girl?? I followed on Instagram immediately – before there was even a shop! And on the night of the release I bought two (because shipping is hella expensive). I don’t get to wear this one as much as I would like to but I absolutely love it; I feel like it gives an extra oomph to an outfit and it really is a statement piece.
Katniss Dress in Green – Voodoo Vixen
Oh this dress, you either love it or hate it. I personally love it(which is why I own it)! I’m obsessed with cats so finding a dress with cats on it is amazing and finding a swing dress with cats on it is spectacular! I’ve had this dress for a very long time; since I was a baby pinup and before I even shared my outfits online – what a crazy time. The quality of the fabric is nice – it’s a little heavy for summer #90%humidity but it’s definitely the right dress for winter. I knew when I purchased this dress awhile back I looked at reviews and I knew a lot of customers had issues with the sleeves of the dress particularly the armpits. I purchased the medium and had absolutely no issues with the arms at the time however I’m more of a medium/large (12-14 NZ) and have felt a little tightness so that’s something you should definitely look in to if you’re thinking about purchasing.
Retro Belt – Black – Hell Bunny
Well, if you read my previous post ‘Holy Grail Items’ you’ll know that I am obsessed with these belts! To reiterate..
- They cinch you waist and make it look iddy biddy!
- Are stomach friendly (if you have issues with stomach health)
- Sizes small, medium and large – but they do have a lot of stretch!
- In colours: red, pink, black, white, sky blue, lavender, mint, aqua, silver, gold, green & burgundy.
- Affordable! $15.00 NZD for a belt that will last you years!
I hope y’all liked this little twist on my usual OOTD! Do you dress in darker colours? Do you hate pink? Your weekly challenge is to wear something outside your comfort zone for a day and see how you feel! Let me know how you get on in the comments or @missflossypots on Instagram.
