The Lily Dress by Dolly & Dotty

Do you ever get that feeling when you try on a dress and it’s like “the one”? Well, I have.
Recently Dolly and Dotty sent me the Lily Dress in white/purple/pink and I knew from the photos it was going to be good but I wasn’t sure if it was going to look good on me… until I tried on and I felt like Elizabeth Taylor. This is not a feeling I get often, I often feel quite bulky and very un-Elizabeth Taylor but there’s something about this dress.
It’s light, I think that’s what it is. It’s not harsh on the eyes; the floral print in it’s pinks, purples and greens lift the dress which almost gives it a 1940’s look but there’s still a modern twist on it.

I just want y’all to know that I’m a pretty calm person but I think I’ve completely lost it with this dress. I genuinely can’t believe how good it is – I have been around the block and back again with reproduction dresses and this is one of the best by far. It’s like nothing I have ever worn before and I’m 100% sure this dress is going to be my special occasions dress from now on. Oh, and I’m so sad I didn’t get it earlier for the New Zealand Summer – it would have been amazing for that 90% humidity we were all having. Nevertheless I’ll be dressing it up with pink & purple cardigans throughout autumn and winter.

Now let’s talk about the garment itself. On the Dolly and Dotty website the Lily Dress retails for around $86.00 NZD which is pretty incredible for the quality of this dress. The torso is lined and it has this amazing sweetheart neckline which is super flattering on pretty much everyone. It’s made from 95% cotton & 5% elastane which is a refreshing change, I mean I’m sorry but I’m really getting over the polyester dresses – I liked them for awhile but having a nice cotton dress is next level goodness. The dress is mid calf length on me which was one of the first things I noticed and loved – I’m 5’6 for reference. I got the Lily dress in a size 14 and I’m glad I did. I’m usually a size 12 but I do find my bust measurements to be more of a 14 and there’s nothing worse than a dress being too tight on your chest, am I right? Oh and I forgot to mention… THIS DRESS HAS POCKETS!!!

Dolly and Dotty have a huge range of sizes from a UK 8 to a UK 24, they’re affordable, good quality and they ship worldwide. All in all I highly recommend, I’m so very pleased with my Lily dress and I now want it in the blue/pink colour way!! But as always when buying from a new website be sure to check your measurements and make sure they match the sizing chart, I cannot stress this enough!!
